Last week we had a very beautiful sunny day on Friday the 21st and since Jacob was home we decided to all go outside to do a little yard work while Diane soaked up a little Sunshine. Diane has always loved the Sun and it still lifts her spirits. She would always say "If I were a cat I would be purring ". While Diane was acting like a Cat Jacob and I got some outside cleanup done. Although she was relaxed it didn't keep her from giving a little advice from time to time.
When we decided to go back in, I had a hold of Diane with my right hand as we negotiated the steps and Patio doors. When I slid the screened door open TP our cat shot right past me. Now! with my extreme quick reflexes I reached out with my left hand and grabbed the end of TP's tail. My conundrum, is I have a hold of Diane with my right hand and a very tentative grip on the tip of my cats tail with my left hand. To complicate things this is causing extreme pain in my middle finger. It had locked up from 'Trigger Finger'. ( This is a condition where your finger locks down and very painful to straighten back out ) I then tried to get a little better grip on the tail, as I did this I heard Diane give a yelp and I saw her fall down . While I was reaching for the cat I pulled her off balance. She was a little shaken, but will be OK.
When we adopted our three legged cat, I signed papers that said he would be a house cat and would not be allowed outside. Reflecting back on our incident I should have let the cat go. He has escaped before and eventually comes back.
Diane had a set back this week when we discovered a sore on her foot. With Diane's Neuropathy in her feet, this is always an extreme concern. They have been healed for two years, but before that we went seven years being treated two or three times a week for ulcers on her feet. We have wonderful Doctors who came in on their day off to treat her. It looks like we caught it pretty early and hope for a recovery with antibiotics and care.
I'm writing this on Sunday morning and we are disappointed that we have to stay home today. We have been with out a car since Wednesday and will be home one more day. I don't write this to complain and I know that we have been blessed in so many ways. You have touched our family so many times, and it really means a lot that many of you have been following our journey. I also hope by our sharing would give you some comfort and know that you are not alone.
