Tomorrow on April 18 will be three months since Diane traded in her beautiful but broken body for a new one. She ran a good race and finished with flying colors. Those of us who are still here are learning to deal with the void where she once was.
Affairs of the "Heart" contains the extreme highs and lows of ecstasy and pain. From the excitement you feel from the first time you meet that special person until you feel the agony when they leave. There is no greater risk than opening your Heart to the possibility of a love connection.
We had to say goodbye to our favorite companion for over sixteen years about two years ago. "Blondy" We loved that dog and she brought so much to our home, but the last few months of her life were really painful for all. I would have to weigh the enjoyment she brought with the pain we felt after her short time with us.
There are so many well meaning friends and loved ones that have advice on how to deal with our recovery. They feel they can judge our actions and they know how we should be reacting. God and I are the only one's that know what's going on in my Heart.
Our tolerance for pain varies or our reactions can really manifest itself differently. Some of us need to be busy to help avoid dealing with our trauma and there are others of us who just want to hide for awhile and only let the closest of friends into our world.
If you really love me your patience is a gift and I will let you in on my own time. I might not even know myself how to really explain my symptoms or an antidote. I've heard that you never forget, but your pain does ease in a way that you can tolerate.
I don't think any of us would want to replace someone we loved and lost, but there is always room for one more light in my universe.
