Today is Saint Patrick's Day, I always remember this Holiday since it follows my Birthday, OK I digress. Tomorrow will be two months since Diane left us for a better place. We are doing our best to get on with our lives as we all need to do. She is missed, but I believe our family is actually closer at this time than ever. "She would want that" We all are aware that her presence is felt during our activities.
When I look back at our relationship and what she was to me, of course that entails being my wife and what that means. After the romance, courtship and fun during the early part of our marriage, is a partner we need to face every day with. It makes it so much better if you like and respect each other. I believe it's at this point so many marriages start to fall apart, after the lust dissipates they don't have much left unless they are truly friends.
I've always heard that we can have a lot of acquaintances that we like and call friends, but we really are fortunate if we can have one or two really close friends. I'm talking about someone who is with you through thick and thin. They make the effort to know and accept you the way you are. They are still with you when your down and clapping loudly when you win " even when no one else notices" You laugh and cry with each other just because you are sharing emotions. You have earned the right to speak into each others lives because you really care. When everybody leaves and the lights go out, you know that you can hold each other and stay warm. A really good friend wants you to be happy even if it means sharing or including someone else. "NOT SELFISH
If you have a friend that is your partner for life, it just can't get any better. If you put all your effort into your relationship when your together, when one has to leave there will be no regrets.
