Good Morning ! Welcome to our home and we are happy you stopped by, nothing really exciting happening here, but this would be a good place to come if you would like some conversation and someone who will take the time to listen to what's going on in your world. I will turn the Television off and put my phone on vibrate. Does that sound boring . maybe, but it will be hectic here Monday when Oregon kicks some butt in the National Championship.
Our Caregiver "Karen" is off today, so I'm in charge Ha! Diane has been in bed and sleeping most of the time for awhile now, she has been in her own room . I miss having her in my room, but I am pretty proud of the place we fixed up for her . It has a hospital bed, TV, double doors that open out to the family area and decorated with memorabilia that represents her. I know this is temporary, but we are adamant that she will be comfortable in pleasant surroundings with people who love her. She might be asleep but most of the time someone is there watching over her.
This has been a frustrating Roller Coaster ride lately for all of us. Hydrating and getting her to consume calories is really getting to be complex . I don't really believe in force feeding, but at this time the problem is that she can't feed herself and is starting to forget how to use a straw. When you give her liquids directly from a cup she has a tendency to choke. They have products that will thicken the liquids so we can spoon feed her for hydration . This also makes it tedious when you are figuring out ways to administer medications. Karen has been quite inventive when it comes to figuring this out.
It seems like any bug or infection that comes around knocks Diane out for days. She will sleep for longer duration each time. When your about to count her out she bounces back, but each time it seems like a shorter period of time. One thing we have all learned is that even though she seems incoherent , doesn't mean what's going doesn't register with her. Diane doesn't seem to remember me most of the time and then someone will be visiting and she will point to me and say "that's my husband" . When we are talking about concerns for her we do it out of her hearing area.
TP followed Diane to her new room and spends the nights with her. He will check in on me, but we all know where his allegiance is. When he does come in Diane seems to recognize his presents and reaches out to pet him.
I pray everyday for the Miracle of Healing, or the Ultimate form of Healing that we people of Faith believe in. I would love her back, but I also have hope of being with her again with Healthy Bodies.
