Today is Black Friday and I understand that it is really a combat zone out there among the retail deal seekers. As for me and my house we will stay close to home. I understand that the name came from the retailers who were celebrating that their books had finely come out of the Red and they could keep what came in for the rest of the year.
Yesterday was a special day at Grandma Diane's house. There was lots of really good food and conversation , with Cousins getting back together after many years, catching up on what's been going on for the last fourty years. All the families have expanded with Spouses, Children and Grandkids.
Diane has been out of the Kitchen for a few years now and I don't think she misses it. Diane never aspired to being a Master Chef, but if she came up with a recipe most people liked that's what she stuck with and felt why mess with something that works. She had a Pretzel Jello that was always requested at these affairs. Somebody needs to learn how to make it in her honor.
I don't know how much Diane comprehends what the commotion is all about , but it doesn't seem to bother her. We have young cousins running around making lots of noise, the men are watching Football and expressing their opinions with vocal authority.
Diane slept through a lot of the day and when she was awake except for a little smile once in awhile didn't show much emotion. She's not interested in eating or drinking and that always concerns us.
One thing that really touched my Heart was through out the day I saw almost every person including children finding time to go sit with her, hold her hand and holding mostly a one sided conversation. I believe Diane would have appreciated the fact that the Party went on and her family was enjoying themselves.
